

Maintenance Manager
Ref: Classic 3732 Location: Rozelle Bay, Sydney
A leading Marine Engineering services group with waterfront operations at Rozelle Bay has created a permanent position for a Maintenance & Facilities Manager.
Reporting to a Director (or delegate), the main function of this role is to oversee, manage and coordinate all maintenance and servicing activities across the one company site. Salary package is negotiable, according to experience and ‘fit’ to the role.
Your Key Tasks will include:
- Maintain and manage all lifting & rigging equipment to ensure compliance with inspection and certification standards.
- Ensure the safe operation, maintenance and inspection of all plant and equipment on site, including ship lift, straddle carrier & vessel transfer systems, forklifts, compressors, pumps, welding equipment, workshop tools, working at heights and confined space gear.
- Develop and manage a register of all equipment and their maintenance status.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all assets and infrastructure.
- Coordinate and manage scheduled and reactive facility maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, structural and general yard.
- Oversee the inspection and tagging of all tools and equipment, to meet WHS compliance.
- Ensure that all maintenance works are documented and logged, in line with the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Develop a preventative maintenance budget and provide advice on CAPEX upgrades and repairs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with equipment service providers and external contractors.
- Provide strong collaboration with Project Managers, Yard Staff and Engineering Teams, to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in industrial, marine or mechanical maintenance.
- Trade Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Engineering or equivalent certification.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, lifting equipment and plant operations.
- Proven experience with preventative maintenance systems and asset management.
- Valid Car driver licence.
- Current Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a shipyard or marine facility environment.
- Familiarity with vessel lifting systems.
- Dogman/ Rigging or Crane certification (desirable).
- Confined space and working at heights training (desirable).
- First Aid Certificate.
- Strong computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Familiarity with MYOB, Quickbooks or similar maintenance/ asset management software.
- Ability to read technical drawings and OEM product manuals.
